What Are Your Resolutions?

This is the time of the year many of us set and forget resolutions we made to improve ourselves.  More exercise?  Meditation/, Lose weight?

A fascinating way to get rid of a bad habit is not to try to change it: just observe it.  You might find this amazing, but just observing a bad habit without judgment can be very healing.

The key is not to judge yourself!  Accept yourself and love yourself, and you’ll tap into healing potential.  Be good to yourself.  You are human and have weaknesses and strengths.  Accept yourself.  You were put on this earth for a reason even if you don’t know why,

Is it really possible to change a habit?  According to a study published in the European Journal of Social Psychology, it takes 18 to 254 days for a person to form a new habit.  So be patient with yourself. (1)  Accept yourself as you are, and you’ll release lots of energy and have more and more healing.

The great thing is that you can start right now!  A little self-acceptance and compassion go a long, long way.

Get Some Sun

The Benefits of Sunlight

Want better sleep and a better mood? Get some sun. What is more natural than sunlight? When the sun is out, try to get as much of it as you can. Go for a walk (especially with friends). Numerous studies show that sunlight is good for your natural circadian rhythm, so you’ll feel sleepier at night and feel more awake during the day.

All energy on earth (except for volcanoes) is from the sun. All life on the surface of our planet depends on sunlight. A new study has found that getting enough natural sunlight each day could help reduce insomnia and improve mood. This study was published in the Journal of Affective Disorders and involved over 400,000 people.

The coauthor Sean Cain writes: “In this study, we observed that the greater time spent in outdoor light during the day was associated with fewer depressive symptoms, lower odds of using antidepressant medication, better sleep, and fewer symptoms of insomnia.”

Greater time in outdoor light was also associated with lowered odds of lifetime major depressive disorder and better outcomes across a range of mood and sleep measures. Additionally, too much light at night throws off your circadian (day-night) rhythm. So stop staring at artificial screens late at night. (1)

7 Essential Oils for the Holidays

When the Holiday season is approaching, turn to Aromatherapy to add to the ambiance. Here are some ideal Essential Oils to enhance your home as you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa this year.

Peppermint
Peppermint Essential Oil provides a boost of energy when you need it. Peppermint is also a wonderful anti-inflammatory. This means that it may help reduce pain caused by headaches, tight muscles, and upset stomachs. Its menthol component also helps to open congested airways.

Cinnamon
Used as an ingredient in many favorite treats, Cinnamon provides a cozy sense of warmth and comfort. Additionally, Cinnamon can encourage a physical feeling of warmth as well. For example, adding a drop to a Winter massage may help heat the skin and the soul.

Ginger
This Essential Oil helps to create a pleasant and secure emotional state of being. As for physical benefits, we love that Ginger is incredible for digestion. If Thanksgiving indulgences have pushed your tummy to the limit, apply Ginger with a carrier oil to the stomach and massage in a circular motion to help relieve nausea and indigestion.

What is a Chiropractic Adjustment?

Chiropractic care is made up of two parts. First, a subluxation, a physical distortion causing nerve interference or stress, is located in a person’s body. This is done using various instruments and tools that may range from the highly sophisticated, such as X-rays and MRIs, to the relatively simple (body measurement and multiple tests). In the hands of an expert, a simple tool can be very accurate.

Now comes the specialized procedure to correct, release or (the most commonly used word) adjust the patient’s subluxation. This is done to undistort the distortion in a person, correct the hidden stress, and release nerve stress. There are many chiropractic adjustment techniques; over 100 are taught today.

Typically, the adjustment involves introducing force or energy to the part of the body where the subluxation resides to unlock it, to put the part in motion so that the body will reposition the offending part.

An adjustment may take a moment, but its beneficial effects may be lifelong.

The Miracle of Chiropractic

Chiropractors don’t put any drugs or chemicals into the body, and they don’t remove body parts—and yet, for well over a century, millions of people have benefited from chiropractic care.

We’re not just referring to musculoskeletal pain such as the back, wrist, arm, shoulder, neck, head, leg, hip, and other pains but much, much more.

Chiropractic has become the largest drug-free healing science, art, and philosophy in the world because of its successes. At a time when organized medicine attacked chiropractic care, the number of people visiting chiropractors exploded. Why? Because it works! Chiropractic is drug-free (no side effects or drug reactions), safe (chiropractors’ malpractice premiums are a small fraction of those of a medical doctor, especially orthopedists), and effective, as millions of people around the world will testify.
